History:
Before his death in 1945, FDR left a few requests for his burial. He said he wanted to be buried at his Hyde Park Home in the rose garden. The president did not like the idea of having his tombstone be an elaborate work of art. The only inscription he wanted was that of his and his wife’s names and the years of their births and deaths.
Problem:
FDR’s tombstone is a simple stone rectangular prism that is on a larger base. Use the picture to the right to calculate the volume of the stone to find how much marble was needed to make the stone.
